Photos: Abbath, High On Fire, Skeletonwitch @ The Opera House
Every year since 2012, Decibel Magazine has consistently curated one of the best metal tours, and 2016 is no different. This year's Decibel Magazine Tour featured a stellar lineup including Tribulation, Skeletonwitch, High On Fire, and headliners Abbath. On Sunday, April 10th the tour made its stop in Toronto at The Opera House. I was there to photograph the show, but most importantly... my most anticipated live metal act to capture this year – Norway's Abbath.
If you haven't heard of them then you're batshit crazy. Jump on the bandwagon before it's too late. Remember Black Metal legends Immortal? Well, Abbath is the solo project by ex-Immortal frontman Abbath Doom Occulta (Olve Eikemo) and it's metal as F#&K \m/! I'm pissed that I ignored their set at last summer's Heavy Montréal. At the time, I didn't know who they were and decided to take a break from shooting and eat a sub instead. Slap me.
I couldn't have been more stoked with how the show went. I missed Tribulation's set, but Skeletonwitch ripped it on stage (plus their new singer is rad) and High On Fire were devastatingly good. The Californian Doom Metallers even brought their own sound rig and they were ON POINT, despite the delay in starting their set due to some bass issues.
Make sure you check out all my concert photos from the show below, I'm stoked on those Abbath photos:
