Photos: Bestival 2016 @ Woodbine Park

What a weekend! You couldn't have asked for better weather, people, and music at this year's Bestival. The Beaches Woodbine Park was taken over by thousands of music fans and it was nothing short of a spectacle. Crazed fans showed up mostly half naked or overly dressed in animal costumes with more glitter than I've ever seen in my life. Costumes and glitter aside, the music is what we showed up for and the musical acts did not disappoint. Check out all our photos from day 1 of the festival below, but read our quick synopsis of what went down first.

Crazed dancers, unicorn balloons, and glow sticks were littered in the darkness of the Big Top tent throughout the entire day. We poked in a few times and Thugli and Madeon reign supreme from what we saw. Intense mixes, deep bass, and all around great vibes in if you're into that style of music. We checked out the Bollywood stage for about 30 seconds but it was just too much to handle. Lost souls were scattered everywhere hardly alive dancing to just too much bass. The main stage was on point with the UK's Swim Deep breaking hearts on a gloriously hot day. Fellow Brit Jamie xx put on a helluva set, unfortunately the power kicked out as he was finishing which resulted in some silence, a delay and then finally back to Jamie rounding out his set. Odesza summoned a fantastic turn out to see them bounce around and drum on their symmetrical drum kits on stage. I've never been a massive Odesza fan, but they put on a wild show and fans were really, really into it. Especially when they had pyro go off on stage.

Lastly, Tame Impala sealed the deal on the festival for us. They were the band we showed up for and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Kevin Parker and the boys were in high spirits and it made for a fantastic set. He spoke a lot more on stage than their last show in Toronto when they played Massey Hall. He mentioned how great it was that Toronto's weather was hot and was in shock since he didn't know it actually got that hot in Canada. They played a wide range of songs coming off their EP, Innerspeaker, Lonerism and their latest record Currents – you couldn't have asked for more. It was a short but sweet set, we could've listened to them play for hours but you can't have everything you want. It was already incredible that they played in The Beaches. Bestival went over exceptionally in Woodbine Park... please bring it back again next year.
