Photos: Red Hot Chili Peppers at Air Canada Centre

Last night, LA's Red Hot Chili Peppers returned to Toronto's Air Canada Centre in support of their latest studio album The Getaway. This show was pure nostalgia for me and a huge reminder that I really do love this band. I grew up in RHCP's prime and forgot how impactful their music was to my adolescence. Needless to say, I was stoked to be in the photo pit for this show.

As the lights dimmed, the ACC erupted with cheers as Chad Smith, Flea, and Josh Klinghoffer casually walked out onto the stage. The three of them kicked off an incredible jam session leading into the first song, their smash hit Around The World (Californication 1999). Once the song officially started, frontman Anthony Kiedis jumped out of the darkness with a massive smile on his face and the crowd went berzerk.

The real highlight of the night (aside from the music itself) was the visual experience the band brought to the fans. Their stage setup featured what felt like thousands of floating cylinders that lit up in varying colours. They didn't just "light up" though... they flowed to the beat of the songs, swaying with the crowd and at times feeling like rolling waves in the ocean. These lights were incredible and made the live show experience that much better (seriously look it up on Instagram or Twitter). It was INSANE and completely blew me away. These dudes are legends and I couldn't be more happy to say that I've finally had the chance to photograph them. Let's hope they keep making music for years to come.
