Between The Buried And Me Celebrate 10 years of Colors at The Opera House

North Carolina prog metallers Between The Buried And Me brought their 10 year anniversary tour to The Opera House in Toronto on September 30th, 2017. If you've been a long time BTBAM fan then you know that this wasn't an anniversary tour celebrating the bands inception. It's been ten years since these guys dropped one of the best metal albums of my generation and that legendary album is called Colors. The tour featured a slew of incredible bands like Toothgrinder, Polyphia, and The Contortionist to make it even more appealing.

It was stacked, it was heavy, and boy was it techy. The show was everything you could expect. Mind blowing.

I walked in as The Contortionist was finishing up their last couple songs and they sounded so tight! I'm really stoked on their new album Clairvoyant and am looking forward to when they come to Toronto on their own headlining tour. In speaking with vocalist Michael Lessard after the show, that sounds like it will be early 2018. I can't freaking wait!

The only downside of the night was when vocalist Tommy Giles walked out to his keyboard, grabbed the mic, and informed the crowd that guitarist Dustie Waring was not performing with the band. I later found out that Waring did not make it into Canada because he forgot his passport (WTF!?), resulting in the only Canadian show having Paul Waggoner taking the charge on guitars. Even with only one guitarist, Waggoner played flawlessly and the set was near perfect. The fans went bezerk from the get-go and were rippin' it in the pit the entire set. You couldn't have asked for a better fan response. Topping off the night was the band's encore, when they came out to finish off the night with an even older track "Mordecai," which comes off their sophomore release The Silent Circus (via. Victory Records) from 2003.

The show was too good. The crowd loved it, I loved it, you would've loved it if you were there. If you missed it, check out all the photos above.
