The sun & the fans came out for July Talk at CBC Music Fest

The CBC Music Fest and all of its attendees certainly couldn’t have asked for better more sun-filled weather on a day that had called for aggressive thundershowers. And it was this optimistic attitude that filtered throughout all facets of the family-friendly all-Canadian festival at RBC Echo Beach.
Headliners July Talk put on an unforgettable performance. Somehow they become more charismatic every time we see them. And we’re not complaining. The stage antics between Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay are something you can’t take your eyes off and it’s impossible to anticipate what they’ll get up to next. Push each other around? You bet. Bend over backward? Of course. Jump into the crowd? Why not.
The band played a wide range from their discography and had fans singing along with hits including “Paper Girl”, “Guns + Ammunition”, “Picturing Love”, and “Push + Pull”.
Of course, the day wasn’t just about July Talk. We also made sure to check out the two supporting stages and caught acts from Charlotte Day Wilson, Northern Touch All-Stars, Logan Staats, A Tribe Called Red, and Yukon Blonde. The only downfall as is with most festivals is that the stage times overlap and we weren’t able to watch full sets in order to make sure we saw the next act.
CBC made sure that even the youngest of attendees (a.k.a. shortest) had a great view with big screens projecting topnotch videography. Even the busy food truck vendors were practicing great service with big smiles.
If you missed this festival, be sure to check it out on CBC on July 1st. It will be the perfect soundtrack to your Canada Day celebration.
