Hot Water Music and Quicksand Unite on Split EP Featuring Unreleased Tracks and Classic Covers

New York's revered independent label Equal Vision Records brings a treat for punk and rock fans: a brand new four-song split EP from legendary bands Hot Water Music and Quicksand. The release includes two unreleased songs—Quicksand’s “Supercollider,” their first new track since 2021, and Hot Water Music’s “Undertow,” from their Vows sessions produced by Brian McTernan. Each band also covers a track from the other’s discography, paying tribute to classics from Slip and No Division.

Hot Water Music’s Chuck Ragan reflects on their history with Quicksand, describing how Quicksand’s Walter Schreifels produced No Division in 1999, cementing a friendship that’s spanned decades. “Our respect and admiration grew tenfold,” Ragan shared. “Now, doing a split together has been an incredible experience. We’re still pinching ourselves.”

Quicksand’s Schreifels shares the sentiment, calling the collaboration a “full circle moment.” Recalling his work on No Division, he noted, “It was magical, and at the very end, I added a vocal to ‘Free Radio Gainesville,’ which we covered for the split.” He added, “All these years later, it feels like home.”
