Friko Live in Toronto at The Drake Underground
On Tuesday, April 9th, Chicago-based indie rockers Friko took center stage at The Drake Underground in Toronto's west end. The band, currently on tour supporting their electrifying debut album Where We've Been, Where We Go From Here, released on February 16th, 2024, via ATO Records, showcased their vibrant emerging sound to an eager crowd.
The set was a brief but brilliant showcase of the band's raw talent. Despite a minor technical glitch when lead singer/guitarist Niko Kapetan's guitar momentarily cut out mid-song, the band's professionalism shone through as they quickly recovered, setting a high standard for the night's headliner, Nashville indie rockers Willis.
A highlight of the night was when drummer Bailey Minzenberger left their drum kit to sit on the stage floor, guitar in hand, as Niko played the keys. This added an intimate layer to the performance and captured the audience.
